On the eve of the international campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women Campaign’s Initiative for 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence it’s time to look back and see what results has the cooperation of GIZ Ukraine with local partners brought to prevention and elimination of gender based violence especially violence against women and girls.
For the recent time, thanks to the cooperation with local authorities and UNFPA we opened a temporary shelter in Berdiansk, started renovation of a permanent shelter which will also host a day and night center for victims of GBV.
A crisis center “With Hope to Future” for women who suffered from domestic violence was opened In Kryvyy Rih .
In October we launched the project on better interaction among actors operating in GBV sector. It has been implemented in cooperation with NGO Vzaemodia and local authorities with the goal to improve the cooperation between different organization which support GBV victims in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro Oblasts.
Last year, in joint cooperation with our partners we held smart-parties in the city of Berdiansk and Mironicskiy district of Donetsk Oblast, with participation of around 400 young people. The parties comprised an educational and entertaining component and were focused on educating young people on prevention of GBV. Besides there were screening events on gender issues and trainings on bullying prevention among young people.
To join the campaign we supported our partners to run a series of events in Zaporizhzhia oblast and Donetsk oblast GCA for 16 days focused on raising awareness of the youth in prevention of sexual violence, gender inequality and GBV.
