The Communal Institution of Higher Education “Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education" of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council in a cooperation with the Civil Peace Service of GIZ Ukraine has hosted an online-conference on the potential of Peace Education approaches for the realization of the New Ukrainian School Reform (NUS) on Friday, December 4th, 2020. The aim of the conference was to explore the why, what and how of this link between Peace Education approaches and the NUS-reform.
Now, we are happy to share the publication that has been created following the conference “Teach Peace! Peace Education for the New Ukrainian School".
This collection of articles is an attempt to introduce the fairly new “umbrella-term" – Peace Education. The collection presents articles by practitioners in the field of mediation, nonviolent communication, social, emotional and ethical learning, restorative practices, education on democratic citizenship and human rights, as well as creative methods of conflict transformation. The publication traces the connection between peace education and the reform of the New Ukrainian School
and focuses on the possibilities of drawing on the experience of Peace Education for the implementation of this educational reform in Ukraine. The publication aims at becoming a teacher’s assistant in the daily educational work. It is possible to turn to it to better understand the different approaches of Peace Education, to find examples of exercises and to be inspired by the various experiences that are already being implemented in Ukraine.
The publication is published by the Communal Institution of Higher Education “Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education" of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, in cooperation with the German government through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH within the Civil Peace Service project.
