Emergency management

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) is responsible for protecting the population of Ukraine in cases of emergency. These can be humanitarian crises but also fires or accidents. To enable the DSNS to respond more efficiently and effectively in cases of emergency, the IIPU:

  • Provided equipment such as 5,100 sets of protective clothing, 60 tons of fire extinguishing foam, 12 ambulances and 240 kilometres of fire hose.
  • Conducted trainings and workshops for 300 participants on best practices in emergency management as well as on volunteering and on specialised skills such as the use of search dogs.
  • Renovated three fire stations, two warehouses and one workshop for technical service.

This has contributed to lowering the number of people dead or injured during emergencies by almost 30 per cent since the project started.
